Windows 11 24H2 Problems Didn't Solve After Firmware Update

Hello, I have a WD Blue SN580. I read that 24H2 broke these SSDs so we need to firmware update it. People said firmware update solved the issue. But even tho I updated it, my problems weren’t fixed, and they increased. While gaming, games suddenly start to stutter. FPS downs to 10-20 and a few second it returns it self. It occurs irregularly. Sometimes 10-15 minutes without a issue and sometimes it happen 2 times in a minute. What can I do?

WD has drive utilities which can update the firmware

I use the SN580 2TB model

Make sure windows is also fully updated, check the advanced options for drivers too

Can you open it more? I updated firmware using Dashboard app. My solve weren’t solved even after that. Btw I updated firmware while I was using 24H2. Before update it just dissiconnected time to time.

You may need to install windows fresh

Should I return to 23H2?

with the updated firmware 24h2 and updates should be stable after a few problems were fixed

I Will check updates. But I don’t think I have any update and I did firmware update already.

I’m not sure that it will help but you can try rolling back to an older firmware version if possible or checking if a fresh Windows install improves performance.

Monitor SSD temps and try using a different NVMe driver.

If the issue persists it might be hardware-related.

HOPE IT WILL WORK !

How can I roll back to the previous version? It was working without a problem in 23H2.

24H2 along with the rollups are much more stable with a clean install of Windows 11

If the firmware update didn’t fix the issue, try checking SSD health using tools like CrystalDiskInfo. Ensure your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. Also, monitor SSD temperatures, as overheating can cause stuttering. If the problem persists, test with another NVMe slot or try rolling back to an earlier Windows version if 24H2 is the issue.

Try rolling back by uninstalling the latest update from Settings > Windows Update > Update history or using System Restore.

If that doesn’t work, a clean Windows install might help!

Today i got the issue on the SN770 1TB which isn’t supposed to be affected. Right after booting into windows i got “critical_process_died”. When checking my SMART all values are okay no media integrity errors tough :
Error Information Log Entries: 41 (which was 0 before)

From what i read in the net, this appears to increase if some actions are performed that aren’t supported by the drive. I usually use linux and don’t have any issue with this drive there.

If your WD Blue SN580 is stuttering after the 24H2 update, try checking its health using WD Dashboard or CrystalDiskInfo. Disable power-saving settings in Device Manager and BIOS to ensure stable performance. Update to WD’s latest NVMe driver or roll back to an older version if issues persist. Turn off Windows Game Mode, disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS), and test with Resizable BAR off. If the problem continues, try running Windows 11 23H2 to see if the issue is related to 24H2.
