Win 8.1 does not recognize the WD External Drive

Win 8.1 does not recognize the WD External Drive storage folder. It worked for a couple years then during the last Windows 8.1 update it stopped recognizing the storage folder. The drive’s storage folder can not be recognized regardless of which USB port I use. However, the WD SmartWare folder does open. Is there a fix for this?

The 1T drive is connected to a desktop running Win 8.1
