Will WD give a refund instead of exchange for a returned drive under warr?

Hello all

I have a MyBook 4T 3.0 USB and have just had my witts end with these. Went through 2 of them right off when I first bought one back two months ago and got them both exchanged at BestBuys.

Now this third one did a major lock up last night and now is doing all the same whacky things the others did and I’m just convinced these things are no good.

Btw have gone through the issues I am having on my main PC, two separate laptops, and a Netgear router. An all are updated with all possible, with the computers all running Win7 Ult 64, am using the right cables and USB 3.0 ports and have made sure the drive has the latest firmare. Also btw, I have an older 1TB Elements 2.0 USB, and that works just fine in everything.

Have been an avid user of WD for about 15 years with having bought more drives then I can remember, and have big faith in their quality and hope to continue with that. But I think this particular model is just a lemon…so don’t see the point in getting it swapped as it will just do the same thing again.

So does anyone have any thoughts or know if WD, with the drive sent back, will back refund me the money for this thing, or is there any chance I can exchange it for some other WD product?

Thanks for any help.

Hi WBFAir, please check your private messages.

last time I was checking these boards WD only gave refunds for drives purchased directly from them on their official store, I don’t know if that was changed and they now refund from other retailers. Give them a call and check.
