Will My Passport® Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive work in Safe Mode?

Hi everyone,

I am having major laptop crashes and errors, but am able to boot into Safe Mode.  I want to get my files off the laptop before it completely crashes. 

I am thinking of buying the Western Digital My Passport Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive, 500GB. 

I see it comes with software.  Will I be able to plug it into USB and use the hard drive in Safe Mode without installing the software?  I’m afraid that I won’t be able to install the software in Safe Mode, and want to see what others think before I make the purchase.

Hello,

The drive should work in safe mode without any issues. Also installing the software is not necessary in order to use the drive.

Thanks!  I purchased the drive and it works perfectly in Safe Mode, able to back up my files.

Hi every1.

i am thinking of getting myself a WD 1TB passport or a WD 1TB element external but before i buy it i want to know whats the best option.

i only want it to store my pc games and movies.

Please assist.

P.S i heard alot about the password problems the 1TB passport gives.
