are there any issues with expanding storage via USB through computer? I mean can the Live access files on an external hard drive not hooked up directly to itself?
Sure it can, as long as your computer is “Sharing” those drives on the network, or is accessible via whatever Media Server you’re using.
so I shouldn’t expect any issues with stuttering or anything?
It depends on how you play them. Wired to a router you’ll be just fine (using net shares). Trying to do it wireless you can run into problems depending on how much data you are trying to stream (if they are re-encoded files with bitrates less than 17mbps you’ll be fine – blu-ray rips are another thing entirely).
