Why won't MyCloud just shut up?

The stupid thing is constantly clicking and clacking away 24 hours a day. It’s not that it is accessing any network, it’s just doing SOMETHING. Housekeeping? Self-defrag? I don’t know, but it never gets finished with whatever it’s trying to do. Firmware is the latest 2.31.204. I’ve run diagnostics and it comes back Healthy. It makes it a little slow when I AM trying to access it. Here’s a few screenshots:

Any ideas?

Your screen shows the guilty app. wdmcserver is wd file photo indexer. It is well known hot mess. Turn it off as it kills performance.
See Disabling "wdphotodbmerger" and "wdcmserver"

Put it in cron so it does not startup after a boot.

The only functionally you loose are the file type percentages on the dashborad and photo thumbnails. And you gain HUGE performance and drive lifetime!!!

Thank you very much for your reply! That answers that question!! I will give your suggestions a try.
