Why We can’t upgrade from WD TV Live Media Player to WD TV Live Plus

I have WD TV Live Media Player and I was waiting for new news about maybe some day I could play Netflix on my device but now I have to buy another device just for play Netflix, with this company everything is about money

Because they have different chipsets inside.  There is an idea on the WD TV Live Ideas Exchange that is requesting an upgrade option.  You can go there and vote for it.

i wouldn’t call it a different chipset. It’s the same chipset, different chip. Same features except the addition of macrovision/copy protection. That’s why WD will never add netflix and other paid content to a plain Live unit.
