Why is it be told “Out of Warranty” after I registered its Serial Number of a My Passport Ultra which I bought yesterday in Elkjop in Norway?

Elkjop is a certified retailer. There are many different reasons as to why the unit could be listed as out of warranty.

Did you double-check your unit’s serial number for odd-looking digits? “O” are actually all zeros, and the number 6 can at times be confused with the number eight.

Your unit could also be imported from a different region, which should provide an “Out of Region” message, and would require contacting WD Support in order to be addressed.

However, if the unit is new, from the correct region, and the serial number has been revised for errors then WD Support is able to manually start your unit’s warranty after being provided with a copy of the original purchase receipt via E-mail.
