Why can't I delete anything?

I’m mega OCD about free space on my laptop so I often store things on the wdmycloudex2 that shows up for me. A while ago I put a bunch of photos and video clips on there that I later tried to delete. It looked like it deleted them but the folder was still there and inside was a bunch of transcoded files that I could see were all the pictures and videos. When I tried to delete those it told me “You require permission from Unix User/root to make changes to these files” …

I asked my dad why I couldn’t delete them but he told me he didn’t know, even though he was the one who set up my laptop but either way I don’t think he will be helping me.

What does this mean? Why can’t I delete anything that I put on there? It says it is mine… “Cleo (//WDMYCLOUDEX2)” and I put the files on there. But now I can’t delete them.

You checked the permissions on the files/folders in the control panel of the MyCloud? I’ve read that occasionally the permissions have been reset by various reasons. Also, there could have been something within the files/folders that had corrupt data or are considered open by the computer (and, therefore, cannot be deleted).

When I look in the folders it shows a ton of transcoded files, i don’t know what that means.

How do i see the permissions?
