Which USB dongle to buy for device with firmware version 1.05.04

I have seen the list of compatible devices but those are all for newer firmware but I did not update to new one. I am still having 1.05.04 and I want to buy a cheap USB dongle from amazon. So which one works for sure? as its online I can not order it and have it not working properly, plz.

How can you tell when buying online (Amazon) what Version/Revision that device is? 

Even if all those from the list works fine with old firmware still can you recommend stable ones plz. I know it might have been asked before , do forgive me.

Most USB dongles should work, not just the ones on the list. I guess that to check the revision # you need to contact the store.

According to reports on this board, most usb dongles may not work, its all a bit hit and miss. (I assume that we are talking about WiFi dongles)
