Where is my warranty period

My Passport external drive started acting funny so I tested it and it failed diagnostics.  It came with a 3 year warranty.  I only had it a few months.

I received my placement today and I see I only have a warranty of a few months warranty on it.

Where is my 3 year warranty?

I have purchased only WD hard drives for well over 20 years and have never had problems with warranty.  I am feeling the squeeze more and more lately when I see my hard drives have less period than I should have gotten.

Luckily WD have a terrfic failure rate and have always run well past the warranty period.

In this case, where is my full 3 years?

I read someone else with the same question and the answer was it will be updated when they receive the bad one.  I certainly hope that will happen.

That’s correct.
