Hi, I have a near three year old notebook harddrive titled “WD5000BPVT-22HXZT1” that recently failed. I suspect that the warranty has expired.
I’ve found a potential replacement on Amazon, but the model number is a bit different: “WD5000BPVT-00HXZT1”.
Are they compatible? May I replace one with another? I have an Acer Aspire 5750. What does the last sequence mean?
Thank-you.

Hi it makes no difference any BPVT drive will work fine. So the WD5000BPVT-00HXZT1 will work ok, the other number’s may mean firmware changes it is a WD code so really only they know.

The model number suffix is a Customer Configuration Code. The first two characters are the Merchant ID.
00 = Generic (retail version)
22 = Acer ???
