What is "Normal" Internal Temperature of My Book Home

I use Everest Ultimate to monitor the temperature rise of the Western Digital My Book Home Edition 500 GB External Hard Drive.

Everest indicated that the temperature quickly rose to 120 F. At that point, I turned on a 12-inch table fan on the Western Digital My Book HDD and the internal temperature quickly dropped to under 100 F.

If I turned OFF the table fan and let the Western Digital My Book HDD run:

1) What is the “normal” internal operating temperature of the Western Digital My Book 500 GB HDD? (Assuming external operating temperature is between 70 F to 80 F)

2) How high can the internal temperature rise before the Western Digital My Book 500 GB HDD sustains damage?

Thanks

FYI: WD Technical Support could not answer these questions.  Any help would be appreciated.

I do not know the spec on max temp, but I’ll make sure drive is standing veritically (without anything blocking top of the drive) as designed to circulate the hot air naturally.

The fan cools the drive to lower temperature with the drive on its side, horizonatally.

Thanks, though for the response.

Anyone else have information on my questions, please?
