I’m using a 2TB MBL but not using WD2GO. I noticed from my firewall that MBL has used approx 20MB of bandwidth over a 2-3 week period. I get email alert when MBL starts up. Other than that, I don’t know what else is MBL doing connecting to the internet for. Can anyone shed light on this? I’m tempted to block MBL from accessing the internet but not sure if it will cause any problem/delay on my network.
It’s doing several things.
For one, there’s a cronjob that runs every night that checks for firmware updates. I don’t know how “chatty” that exchange is, but 20MB per 2-3 weeks in total doesn’t really seem like a lot to me…
