What happens to backup files when the source file is deleted?

I’m looking for an answer to what happens to files that are backed up to the WD My Book with Smartware 2.4.4 after the source file is deleted?  Does the file stay on the backup or does it get deleted as well?  I’m on Windows Vista.  Thanks for any help!

Hi kfairris, welcome to the WD Community. Smartware will not delete any of the files from the backup folder, even if you delete them from the source.
