What formats does the TV LIVE support for TuneIn?

Hi,

I really really like the new tunein feature. The support people at tunein.com are also phenomenally helpful.

The only problem is WD TV LIVE doesn’t play all types of streams.

I’m South African and I’d really like to play the Springbok Radio stream. Its listed as a Windowsmedia stream on the tunein site and plays perfectly there, but on the TV LIVE I get an error that  the type of file cant be played.

Tunein support told me that type of stream is not supported by the WD TV LIVE unit.

They suggested I ask the channel to add MP3 streaming support. I doubt very much if they will just for one person.

I hope that WD  can add support for that in a firmware update as that will add support for lots more radio channels.

I’m guessing though its using a format that the unit doesn’t support, but I hope I’m wrong.

Does anyone know what formats the WD TV Live unit supports for TuneIn ?

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Is there something new about this ?

I have another stream that’s not running:

I can run it on the tunein-homepage and I can run it on the Samsung Omnia 7 Tunin-App

But on WDTVLive there is no sound (the channel-logo is displayed fine and category is also shown).

The stream is aac – is this the problem?

I have the same problem, till last Friday (May 27, 2011) everything was working fine, but now I get the message that the device (WDTV Live Hub) is not supporting the sream for both Israel Public Radio (Kol Israel) and Dannish Radio (DR).

Seems to be official now… I contacted TuneIn and asked about the aac problem and for solutions.

TuneIn’s solution: They stopped the stream for WD and if you try to start the stream, you get the message on your TV-screen: This stream cannot be played on your device… 

Dear WD-team, it seams to be your turn again…
