What do Model designation suffixes stand for?

What do the model number suffixes WESN, NESN, etc., mean? Possibly the SN part may be for Serial Number. Some ads for WD products appear to indicate that WESN may signify a new or changed product while NESN is for an older or discontinued one.

Those suffixes are indicators for specific regional distributions. For example, NESN is a product meant to be sold in North America while EESN is meant to be sold in Europe.

Thanks so much. You confirmed my suspicions.
