Western is making a mockery of us!

No more updates, no more access from Windows, no more syncing with Google Photos…

But the system is still locked down—how can we turn it into a “normal” NAS?
They’re blocking access to the AI agents that help us back up our data… Personally, I have 200 GB on Google Photos that I’d like to move to MY hard drive…

Do I have to do everything manually? File by file? Photo by photo?
Why doesn’t Western unlock its product and free us from unresponsive customer support and all these restrictions that prevent us from using our drive?

Plus de mises à jour, plus d’accès depuis windows, plus de syncronisation avec google photos…

Mais un système toujours verrouillé pour le transformer en NAS “normal” ?

Ils bloqueles accès aux agents IA qui nous aident à faire des sauvegardes… j’ai pour ma part 200Go sur google photos que j’aimerais passer sur MON DD…

Faut il que je fasses tout à la main? fichier par fichier? Photo par Photo?

Pourquoi Western ne débloque pas son produit et nous libère d’un SAV qui ne répond pas et de multiples blocages qui nous empéche de nous servir de notre disque?

“AI agent to back up data” - - - - That sounds like an epically dangerous to me.

Can’t comment on the “home” line of devices - - → but any device that relies on an external internet connection will have a limited lifespan. Just ask any Adobe user that has a perpetual license to software. . . .that can’t be installed without a decommissioned “activation server”. (Note: Doing a “clean” upgrade from Win10 to Win11 requires “installing” old software.)

Yes, I understand about the product’s lifespan… but in that case, Western should lift the restrictions, publish a GitHub repository, and make myCloudHome freely accessible with open-source software and firmware… The community has already come up with unofficial workarounds anyway, because their products are effectively stillborn!
