I have a brand new Western digital WDBAAJ0020HSL My Book Studio that will not power on, I have been having this ongoing issue with the drive some time your plug it in and it will turn on, other times you will have to wait for it. This most recent time I have been unable to get the drive to power on for almost a month.
I think the case has malfunctioned, I really need my data on the hard drive. I have placed several calls into Western Digital support, they have offered 2 options: 1-return the drive for an exchange since it is under warranty or send to authorized dealer to retrieve my data. Neither of these options will work for me. So I am wondering if the culprit is the Smartware software, this has seemed to be the problem I have had in the past with the drive being unable to mount. Can someone offer any advice, please??!!!
