I’m looking for advice or help getting a Western Digital warranty replacement escalated.
I opened an RMA for a WD Red Plus drive, model Model WD60EFPX-68C5ZN0 (“Made in Thailand MAY 2026”).
The RMA was created on September 14, 2026. The return shipment (UPS) was delivered to Western Digital/Budapest Center for Europe on September 16, 2026, and Western Digital oddly confirmed that they had received and processed the return on September 23, 2026.
The issue is that the replacement status is still stuck at: “Received / Processing”
There is still no replacement part number, no replacement serial number, no carrier, no tracking number, and no shipped date.
I understand that processing can take time, but the return has been in Western Digital’s possession since September 16, and their own system confirmed receipt and processing (only) on September 23.
Has anyone else had a Western Digital RMA sit in “Received / Processing” this long? Is there a better escalation path than the normal support portal?
I’m not trying to be unreasonable. I just need the warranty replacement completed, or at least a clear explanation of what is holding it up, because this delay is now affecting my business continuity and backup/data protection planning.
Continuing the discussion from Western Digital RMA stuck in “Received / Processing”:
Is any real help possible ?? October, 4th, still no news from WD…
Calling back the WD support in France today at 10 a.m.
Their response : my HDD’s replacement analysis at their Budapest center started now only on October 1st, 2026 (!!!). I need to wait seven more days, and, furthermore, they are out of stock of my model !!!
Looking at their hard drive sales website, no problem to buy my model today at this time !!!
I just received a brand-new WD60EFPX today, October 8, 2026, via UPS ExpressPlus, as a replacement for my defective drive (more than 350 bad sectors after barely one month of operation in my Synology DS1525+).
It took no less than:
three phone calls to WD France Support ;
six messages to WD Support through their website (including one via chat).
First of all, I would like to thank WD for honoring their warranty and replacing the drive.
That said, I do have to wonder about the new warranty replacement procedures and turnaround times, which, unfortunately, were not met in my case.
WD is a major company that builds reliable hard drives and offers reasonable warranty coverage. I sincerely hope this was just a temporary glitch, completely unrelated to AI, which, to its credit, has managed to create serious shortages of RAM, graphics cards, and… mass storage for us poor “individual” customers who don’t buy hardware by the truckload.
Anyway, the new drive is here. Hallelujah!
Since WD confirmed receipt of your drive on September 23, I’d contact support again and ask them to escalate the RMA to the European warranty team. Request a clear status update, the reason for the delay, and an estimated shipping date for the replacement.
If the drive is affecting your backup and business continuity plans, mention that explicitly and ask whether an advance replacement or another expedited option is available.
Keep your UPS delivery confirmation and RMA number handy. Hopefully, it’s just a processing backlog, but you deserve a clear update rather than being left waiting without tracking information.
You can escalate this by replying directly to the existing RMA case and asking WD to confirm whether the replacement is awaiting stock, internal approval or a warehouse release, rather than simply requesting a status update. Since the Budapest center confirmed receipt and processing on September 23, you can request a specific dispatch date or a supervisor review if they cannot provide one. If standard support keeps giving generic replies, you can also try WD’s official social media support channels with your case number, but avoid posting your serial number publicly. In the meantime, you can arrange a temporary backup drive so the delay does not leave your business data unprotected.
