Anyone expierenced something like this? Any ideas?

Hello all,

went yesterday trough the WD Mybook 500 manual in the troubleshooting section it mentioned to verify if the “blue led” is turned on to confirm power is received. “Blue led” was not lighting. Tried also to plug the power adapter somewhere else but nothing. Power was arriving to the hard disk as I can hear the hard drive doing something, just the led was not working anymore.  As I have a lot of data on it, I then opened the WD and removed the hard drive from inside. I managed then to connect it using SATA power cable, SATA data cable to my desktop. Hard was recognized in Storage Devices but not in My Computer. I saw that there were at the beginning of the hard drive a unallocated space. I gave this a drive letter and then I could see everything in My Computer with a drive letter. But still I cannot see the old data as in My Computer it sais right now : Drive empty.

Any ideas? In the meantime i’m trying to use some tools to check the hard drive for files…

Still welcoming ideas…
