Western Digital My Book Formatting Problem

Hi,

After copying a lot of data to western digital my book essential edition, I got the message “the disk in drive g: is not formatted. Do you want to format?” I pressed yes, then was told “the disk in drive g: cannot  be formatted.”  I can’t open the drive anymore.  Now it no longer shows on my computer. What do I do?

I have a HP Pavillion with Windows XP.

It shows in device manager, but as unreadable, with no volume

Here is a description of my drives.

Volume    Layout       Type        File System

(C:)              Partition    Basic      NTFS

(D:)              Partition    Basic      FAT32

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You can try going to Disk Utility and see if able to delete the partition and then reformat the drive.
