Hi I want to know something about the Western Digital Caviar Green WD30EZRSDTL 3TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive ok I see it comes with SATA adapter and I have to ask do I need to connect it up with SATA adapter???
Is there no way that I can just not use SATA adapter as I do not have a spare SATA port available Is there no way that I can just not use SATA adapter?
Sata Adaptor ?.. I havn’t yet seen on of these drives. But arn’t they just the same as any other Sata drive with one Sata Power and one Sata Data connector ?
Hi dude! The SATA adapter is for old computers to overcome the 2TB drive size recognition limit. If you don’t use the adapter then either the drive is NOT recognized, or recognized as 2TB unless your MotherBoard fully supports the size.
Also, I called WD for pre-sales and they told me that the drive is NOT bootable unless your OS is 64-bit and that the drive is not supported under XP and OSX 10.4 even with the adapter, which is also shown in their Web site under this link: http://www.wdc.com/en/solutions/Greaterthan22.asp
