Western Digital 500 GB sata new HDD gave me errors, bad sectors!

I’ve recently bought  an Western Digital 500GB WDC WD5000AAKX-001CA0 sata hard disk and its started showing errors . I’ve first noticed in Linux disk utility , where it showed " SMART status: disk has few bad sectors". Its not even a week i bought :manmad:.

So i did some googling and found out  Western digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics software . It showed SMART status : PASS. But when i ran the QUICK test , the test failed . This is the error

QUICK Test on drive 1 did not complete!

Status Code = 07 (Failed read test element ), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test):            smileysad:

Please provide some insight on  this .It not even a week  its new one .I’m thinking of replacing as i got Warranty.

Please help

I got the very same Data LifeGuard error on one of  my Caviar Black 1TB (1002FAEX) drives.  I installed my drives in  June 2010 and my primary drive 0  was starting to fail on Dec 26, 2010.  I started my RMA process on Jan 6, 2011 and it took able 10 “business” days for a replacement drive to arrive.  And this was the “Standard RMA” process for “North America.”

I’m just waiting for my replacement hard drive to get my “remaining” warranty period for my “defunct” hard drive (16xx days) instead of 101 days.
