Western Digital 4.0TB Blue SSHD WD40E31X showing as 0b Generic USB Storage

My BIOS shows it correctly as 4000GB but Windows 7 only shows it as 0b Generic Drive.

I have been trying for over a week since receiving it, to get it to format so I could install anything on it but have been totally unsuccessful.

Any help would be much appreciated, otherwise I think I will return it and try a different manufacturer.

Where are you looking for the unit? The Device Manager? If so, how is your unit listed within Disk Management? Additionally, the thread title may imply the unit is being used in an external USB enclosure but the post’s text mentions the BIOS; how is the unit connected to your system?

If you are using a USB adapter, then it may not be compatible with the unit.
