Western Digital 1TB My Passport SE for Mac Sleeps then Fails!

On a MacMini and MBP both have OSX 10.6.5.

Western Digital 1TB My Passport SE for Mac is formatted properly - Mac OS Ext. (Journ.) GUID etc… the retarded little piece of crapware of a disc keeps popping up with the HD - which could be the issue???

anyway… If I am not using the Western Digital 1TB My Passport SE for Mac for even a nano second the thing spins down and goes to sleep then becomes impossible to do anything with. I cant eject it unless I do a FORCE EJECT which on the last go-round caused real problems for the WD!!! I had to shut down the MacMini for Disk Utility to even recognize the thing. Tried to do a Repair Disk and it seemed to be fine. I did a new Partition on it (same as the old one) but just dont trust it… *** actually it just went to sleep and I was forced to do the “FE” on it just now!!!

Got this thing from Apple on Black Friday and am going to see if they will replace it with another brand as there are just too many complaints going around for this piece of ■■■■… too bad, seemed to be a nice looking machine!

If there are any amazing suggestions that will keep this thing alive while not pampering it every second would love to hear them,

thanks in advance,

f

How about picking a color that people can read without getting eye strain.

I am having the same problem.  I just bought the WD 1 TB Passbook external drive today.  It goes to sleep so quickly that it is essentially useless for my needs.  I’m all for going green, but I consider this feature a defect.  I’m taking this back to Best Buy for a refund.

So glad I bought this crapware from Apple.

They took it back even though it has been months and months… even sent me a free return FedEx shipping label. Had my refund in just days.

The sales assistant over at Apple said she would notify her supervisors of the issues of this company on their latest practices!

Again, thanks Apple!

Did you guys try disabling the sleep timer under drive settings? o.o

mine is gone gone gone…

could be a good try for others…
