WEDNESDAYS disk read error

I get random  “A disk read error has occurred….”  when I start my Win 7 PC.  I asked  sevenforums.com if this is a problem.  The responder had me run dskchk.

From sevenforums.com :

If the hard disk is failing, you will probably see that corrections message on a more regular basis. For the most part, the no problems message appears the second run of chkdsk, but I always recommend running it that second time to make sure the no problems message appears and not the corrections one. If the correction message appears on the second run, that is a good indicator that you should backup all data and do regular backups on at least a weekly basis because the drive is likely starting to fail.

On the second run I got “no problems” but when I restarted, I got   “A disk read error has occurred….”  Is my new hard drive failing?

John

SORRY-  Spell Check changed the subject from WD3200AAKS to WEDNESDAYS…  Go figure.
John

I just now got another Disk Read Error.  C’mon you experts!  Is my 3-month old hard drive about to die?

John

I would do all the simple stuff first. Make sure all the cables are tight and set properly. Make sure there are no kinks, etc. I’ve had cables somehow work themselves loose. If that doesn’t work, change the cables and connectors to the HD. I’ve had cables go bad on me for no reason. If that doesn’t work, then, yeah, you might want to copy that hard drive as quickly as possible. You can get one at New Egg for around $90 or less (if there’s a sale). There’s always a chance there’s something on your motherboard is dying. You would find that out if the second hard drive has the same problem.
