Webdav Error 404 Not Found or 403 Forbidden when accessing Public

Hello,

I’m trying to setup WebDAV Access to my new EX2  as described in the manual but it just doesn’t work.

I activated global WebDAV under Settings->Network and in the Public Share.

When I type in the Browser “http://:8080/Public” I get a “Not Found” Message from Webserver.

When I deactivcate WebDAV in the Share I get a “Forbidden” Message.

Same is with other manually created Shares and/or with using https and Port 4443

I’m running latest firmware 1.05.30 on the EX2 and I tried to access with different Browsers from different Machines and mobile devices in the same subnet.

I’ve no problems with mapping and accessing the shares via SMB in Windows Explorer.

Also access to dashboard with browser is no problem at all.

I also rebooted the device several times with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Update: It still doesn’ work but after I set the IE Browser to “Always ask for username and password” I now have to provide username & password when I access the site but it doesn’t accept any of the users existing on the EX2

Woever told you that IE browser is a WebDAV client?? Use Windows explorer as your WebDAV client. A simple Google search should have revealed that to you along with some steps on how to access a WebDAV server using Windows Explorer’s built-in WebDAV client. Here’s one →   http://www.webdavsystem.com/server/access/windows

For things like this please try to search on the forum and Google first at least.

Ok You’re absolutely right, somehow the sentence in the manual (page 126)

“In order to connect to the WebDAV service, use the following IP address: http://:8080/Public”

mislead me to the way of trying to use a browser for that.

Thanks for pushing me in the right direction.

BTW I used netdrive as a WebDAV-Client now ( www.netdrive.net)) and its working fine.
