I am trying to free up storage on my laptop and move files to it. For my wife’s files, I went to SFTP to the drive and can’t remember her login lol. So I went into the web interface to realize it is practically unusable. SFTP was just working fine (via my credentials). It’s just the web interface.
It takes forever to load the page. Then when the page does load, basically every action takes forever, the options are broken, and it throws network connection messages. I don’t have network issues, this I am sure. I have a junk MyCloud UI issue.
For example, here are some errors that pop up forever later after navigating various pages:
I am pretty sure I had auto-updates disabled because I wouldn’t want a bad f/w update to happen automatically and next thing I know the drive is bricked. Yet, I am magically on the latest firmware? Thanks, but I didn’t ask for it.
Does anyone know what is going on with it and how to fix it? I am familiar with SSHing into servers and have been in the drive a few times.
Post a screen shot of the My CLoud Dashboard so others can see what your issue is.
Basic troubleshooting steps.
Use a different web browser.
Temporarily disable all browser add-on’s and extensions.
Temporarily disable any security, antivirus, firewall software on the computer.
Try a different computer.
As a last resort perform a 40 second reset.
All the SS would have done is show blank boxes for each section…
I disabled wdmcserverd and wdphotodbmergerd, waited about 20 mins, and rebooted the drive. It ran much faster. Seems that transferring thousands of files via FTP to the drive crippled it.
Kind of a pain that you have to enable remote access to remove your email addresses from the users. There should be a “remove email” link so we can do this without re-enabling remote access. “If remote access == disabled, show remove email link”.
Even though I was able to use the interface after disabling these services, the UI is still slow. It takes 30-60 seconds to load a page. The page shows, but options are grey. Then after 30-60 seconds, they finally enable and can be used.
If they are going to leave us hanging, they could at least give us a decent firmware update.
