WDTV Live, Windows 10 and Avast

Hi,

After upgrading to Windows 10 the WDTV Live doesn’t see my Windows Share. After lots of trial and error the problem seems to be with Avast, if I disable the Avast firewall I can see my PC.

Anyone have any idea what config to change in Avast? I have the local IP range set-up as a ‘friend’ , e.g. 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255.

I would have thought that this would allow all two way traffic between WDTV and PC.

Thanks
Nivk

Hello there,

I have not tried this, i don’t have avast installed on my computer, but lets see if another user can share some information or tips on this matter.

I’m having the exact same problem. I don’t want to get rid of avast as AVG has annoying popups.

Hi,

I uninstalled Avast but the connection still isn’t perfect.

If I need to reset the WD or my PC then it’s hit and miss whether the WD will see the Windows Share - it can go days and not pick it up and then suddenly the PC will appear.

I’ve assigned static IP addresses to both devices to see if that helps.
