Have we already seen the last firmware update to the WDTV Live Plus?
Been a long time since the last release and haven’t seen much at all on this. It would be a shame if it left unsupported.
I was hoping for Amazon Instant Video getting added, but that seems to be a pipe dream at this point.
Apparently there is at least one further firmware update. It is taking its time, but that is because WD want to get it right. Pity they didn’t apply this philosophy to the other four or five updates.
I hope that add better support for @$$ subs and inproved audio support in the vairous video formats.(ie… vorbis/ogg when in a mkv container)
Will WD add native support for WTV (Microsoft Media Center) files in the latest firmware? We have been asking for this for a long time. What is WD support’s stand on this? Thanks.

Most likely never. WTV is a Microsoft proprietory format that they do not license.
The WDTV Live is a video streaming box not a computer. The WDTV Live uses dedicated hardware digital video chips not a GPU and codecs. Windows Media Centre uses codecs therefore the only way you will get the Microsoft video stream to play on the WDTV Live is to transcode the video stream on a computer into a standard compatible with the international professional digital video standards.
