WDTV Live Plus DLNA and JRiver

I am attempting to use my WDTV Live Plus as a DLNA renderer with JRiver installed on my Win 7 PC and using JRemote as the UI on my iPad.    As of now it isn’t working as I expect it to.   Is there any reason why the Live Plus won’t work as a DLNA renderer?  And has anyone else attempted the same setup with success or reasons why it fails?

From our end, we haven’t try that.

Let’s see if any of the users on the community have.

Since I originally posted this I have made some progress.   I now have the WDTV Live Plus working as a DLNA renderer.   I am using JRiver Media Center on my networked PC and JRemote on my iPad for server and controller functionality.   It is a little tricky to get set up but once you do it seems to work fine.   I am using the DLNA connection directly from the server to my Integra receiver for music but I use the connection to the WDTV for images and video.   It all works quite well and provides a single source for all media and the JRemote on the iPad provides a very nice UI.   I haven’t seen the newer UI for the newer WD players but JRemote is definitely superior to the old one.

It might be nice to try routing the music through the WD as well but it seems, at least subjectively that the music quality is better when it comes from the server directly to the receiver rather than through the WD.    The only difference that I can think of is in the codecs that are used but one would think that a flac codec would be a flac codec.

In looking at the JRiver forums it appears that there are quite a few people out there with a very similar setup.
