WDTV Live not play MKV or video file at all (solution)

I got the latest mkvmerge and ticked the disable header option.

Then added my files and hit remux. I think did tried to drag it onto a WDTV Live “Play To” menu, but it just hangs trying to play. Anyone know what is up with this? Also note if I right click on the file there is no “Play To” menu for the .mkv’s like there are for AVIs

Any ideas?

WMP doesn’t support .mkv, so even though you can trick it into serving .mkv files through MediaServer, you can’t use use it for “Play To”.

Also ensure that the compression is actually off on the extra options tab before remuxing. I believe that after you tick the box you may have to restart MKVmerge to pick up the option change.
