Generally, media servers on NAS boxes aren’t brilliant at providing peripheral files (e.g. folder images or external subtitles).
I don’t get folder images when using TVersity media server either. They show up fine when using network shares.

I will make use of the “network share” option instead.
Thumbnail maximum size is certainly not 70k or 80k. I use some 150kBytes file and it works fine (at least there are used when I unplug/plug the WDTV Live and I see picture twice).
Same for aspect ratio : even if it is not 120x180 the WDTVLive manage it worrectly.
I’m not telling it is good to use “bigger” file : I don’t know how they manage the cache to display thumbnail but aspect ratio and size is NOT a problem.
Of course, once you found that unplugging the WD TV update the thumbnail it works fine, but it is not reliable. WD must re-design the thumbnail function either for the update or the picture displayed twice.
Let’s hope they will put it in a firmware soon… who knows.
