Hello,
WDMycloud possessor of a few weeks ago, I encountered a persistent problem:
Regular inaccessibility of WDMyCloud from outside (3G via my iPhone for example).
The only solution for now is to restart / reboot via the administration interface.
Am I the only one with this problem?
Do you have a solution for me?
I tried to access the integrated SSH Unix system and add a line “Reboot” in the crontab.
Unfortunately, the crontab is regenerated each Reboot and my order is thereby overwritten.
Crontabs and all other things you modify from the shell, will be gone after a reboot. The only modifications you can do are from the web interface. The Mycloud is not a server in the traditional sense.
Thank you for your prompt response. I understand your answer. In this case, how to solve my problem “link loss” that occurs far too regularly. Reboot it was the only way I had imagined. Y Which is the other? Thank yo_u
If you really want to reboot the device from crontab. You can put your changes to the the /etc/rc2.d/S98user-start script. This way it will modify the crontab after every reboot. Not sure how
you would know when to reboot. But this would allow you to make changes to the crontab file that don’t get removed on reboot.
Not for the Gen2 Mycloud. /etc is in RAM Disk and will be erased by reboot. I didn’t find any place to run any user script on reboot. If there is, please tell us. I’m talking about Gen2, firmware 2.x.x.x
I don’t have a Gen 2. So I sometime forget to mention the difference between them. I’ve spent some time trying to look at the Gen 2 code. Looking for something similar to the Gen 1. I have a Dlink NAS that uses the busybox method. But it looks for a file on the hard drive on boot. If it finds the file it will execute the file.
Hello,
For now, the only solution I 'll implement : buy a remote controlled socket (Belkin Wi -Fi enabled Switch) , connect my personal cloud top on and set a stop -raise by this outlet.
An other idea ?
I agree with wgrs and rac8006; your problem seems to be related to internet access to your MyCloud. Re-booting your MyCloud is not the correct answer, especially not rebooting by cutting power without a safe shutdown.
Look to see if your router is rebooting itself, and being given a new global IP address by your ISP. I have found that the MyCloud fails to re-establish remote connection when my router IP address changes (due to rebooting itself), when the remote access mode is ‘Direct Connection’. If the remote access mode is ‘Relay Connection’, the device re-establishes remote connection after the router IP changes.
In Direct Connection mode, I have to turn Cloud Access off and on to restore connection after a router reboot; your MyCloud reboot would have the same effect.
If it’s the reconnection problem I mention, then the local IP address assigned to the MyCloud by the router isn’t the issue; it’s the change in the router’s global IP address that breaks the connection.
Bonjour,
Je note cette excellente remarque qui me semble tout à fait expliquer mon problème.
Ma seule question : comment passe-t’on de “Direct Connection” à “Relay connexion” ?
I’m not sure if there is a manual option to select Relay mode. Mine selects relay mode because it cannot establish direct connection with the ports I have used (8080 & 8443), even though I have configured my router to forward these ports, and configured the mycloud to connect using them.
The alternative is to ask your ISP for a static global IP address.
