Hello,

We have the above WD model in our home, it is connected to our router via Ethernet. For a while now, we cannot access it. Every other item connected to the BT Router is fine. So we have tried accessing it by directly plugging the ethernet into a laptop (is this meant to be possible with this model?).

All we want to do, is get everything off this to transfer to a newer WD back up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @152bobby,

All Western Digital external (USB 2.0, FireWire, eSATA, and USB 3.0) hard drives require a connection to a running computer system to be able to transfer data to and from the external drive.

Please refer to the article Acronis True Image for Western Digital File Backup and Restore to a WD DAS:

Thanks for that, Ill look into that. Just on another point. I have ordered a My Passport Ultra 5TB durectly from the Western Digital UK store and got a email the next day, stating there is a delay, with no mention of when it will ship. I dont understand this. Its available most other places for next day delivery !! I ordered direct, because I don’t like dealing with third parties…so I’m disappointed. Any idea what the issue is ?

Hi @152bobby,
