I have been using this hard drive for a couple of years, storing photos and downloaded music, including podcasts.  Now it is full.  Can I compress the contents of this drive?  If I compress the music, will it still be available to listen to through Itunes?

Or should I just break down and purchase a newer unit with more storage?

I would as the drive is couple years old and may over work if it is compressed.
