I own a WD800 Caviar drive, and I’m running Windows Vista. How can I access the drive? It’s connected to the SATA cable properly, and the jumper is correct. But I don’t see the drive in Windows? I purchased it from a friend, who gave me a huge discount because I told him that I would recover his data.

Generally for desktop internal hard drives you would connect them to an available SATA port on the computer. Then if using Windows you would open Widows Disk Management console to partition, then format the hard drive.
