hi

recently just brought this WD 500 GB harddisk and when mount and turn on, there is a very loud spin high frequency sound. SO loud that in the night i have to switch off then can sleep.

The drive work fine, try to install at various location on my casing and still the same.

Please help. Thanks

If there is a lot of vibration and any clicking, I would make sure that you have your data backed up, then contact WD about it.  They should know what’s an acceptable amount of loudness, and whether it’s on its way to failing.
