Hi, I got a wd5000me-01 usb hard drive I want to setup a password… any help to installl the program???

All you need to do is to install WD Security. If it didn’t come with WD Security, you could install WD SmartWare which is a larger app that also includes backup functionality.

Hi, I had download WD security for Mac from here

i run the program and ask me to attach supported driver ???

I can see my harda drive but the program look dont??

any help??

Does your drive support the use of WD SmartWare? I don’t know what model you have (e.g. Passport, Passport Essential, My Book,…)

You should have searched to find the model. You cannot expect volunteers in the forum to do your basic research for you.

I believe you have a My Passport Essential. You must install WD SmartWare on your PC in order to set a password on this drive.

I did my search I found that is a My Passport Essentia 500g

what  I said is that I dont know if I can install the program that is the info I need is my drive is support it by the password system???
