WD30EZRX shuts down/comes back again

Hello,

I have 2 WD30EZRX drives that intermittently shut down and start up again.

The motherboard is an Asus Maximus Gene-Z and the OS is Windows 7 (64-bit).

All drivers and the BIOS are up to date.

I’ve tried different cables, different PSU’s, different drivers, different BIOS settings, different partition sizes, different sata ports, and tested the drives for faults.

The BIOS and OS recognise the drives and they partition ok, and are subsequently listed in the drive list in ‘My Computer’.

When attempting to store files etc on the drive, the transfer lasts a few seconds before there are a couple of clicks from the drive and the transfer stalls.

At this point, the drive disappears from the drive list but tends to recover again after a minute or two.

I feel like I’m missing something obvious.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Hello,

I think you have done all the regular troubleshoot steps, I’ll recommend you to contact WD and replace your drive. You can do so either by phone or email.
