WD30EZRX formatting under linux

The previous thread was closed, not answered, and could not be replied to.  

In short, the writer wanted to know why they couldn’t format the disk to it’s 3 TB capacity.  The answer is that the default disk manager will not support it.  He will have to an alternate disk manager.  

Several years ago I struggled for a couple of weeks with this problem when i created a 7 TB raid array.

That’s entirely too vague to be of any use at all.  What thread?  What disk manager?  Whose default?
