WD3000HLFS Write Caching Cannot be changed

Today I tried to change the write caching on the drive. As soon as I disabled the setting, Windows hung for a very long time. Finally, after about 30 minutes, the system returned and displayed an error that write caching could not be disabled on this drive. I had never heard of such a thing on an internal SATA drive, so I checked the documentation and can find nothing on this.

Since changing this setting, it takes Windows about 30 minutes to boot. Did trying to alter this setting screw up the drive?

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
