TRYING TO LOAD WIN XP ON REPLACEMENT DRIVE ON HP 530 MACHINE THAT ORIGINALLY HAD A 120GB HDD.
AFTER COPYING SETUP FILES AN ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP STATING THAT THERE IS NO HDD INSTALLED IN THE MACHINE.
IS THIS BECAUSE WIN XP DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE SATA DRIVE? THE MACHINE ORIGINALLY CAME WITH WIN VISTA ON IT.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
Hallo rickbe,
I think you need a driver for your sata-controller, maybe a third party driver.
Early during the installation process you have to press F6; than you have to install the mentioned driver that xp is able to see your bootable drive you like to insall you os on.
