WD20EARX No SMART

I have 2 of these drives in seperate machines.

I have done a “Quick Test” with the latest version of Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.

They pass the “Quick Test” but they both show up as SMART Fail.

They both appear to work fine.

Should I be concerned?

yup… if you are having smart fail you should replace the drives

Just an update

I have changed from SATA-Type to IDE in the bios and re-run the Quick Test and all is well. It passes SMART.

So’ is this a fault of the drive or the controller?

you should test all sectors of your hard drive…  long test is the recomended

after that install hard disk sentinel and see the status and smart data or post here the images

There are better alt than hard disk sentine. It costs money
