WD20EARS fails on MacOS X 10.5 server

Just purchased 2 of these 2TB internal SATA drives. Moved a whole bunch of stuff onto one of the drives, checked it out as working, and put it up.

Now the drive is seen by Disk Utility as a 2.2 TB drive (instead of 2 TB), and shows as unformatted.

And, of course, there’s some info on the drive that doesn’t exist anywhere else any more.

Any ideas are welcome.

No experience with MacOS… what if you boot into a Live Linux CD?  Mount the drive and see what’s up.
