WD15EARS unusually high load cycle count

Ive had this drive for only 8 months and have already logged 960,985 load cycle count according to hdtune.

I’ve looked around and see WD says this drive is good for 300,000 load cycles.

I’ve been using this drive as a backup drive to my main drive in windows 7 64-bit. Obviously, I’m worried this is going to fail on me very soon. What’s the word on these drives failing. Is there new firmware? I’ve read WD does not support “wdidle”

I’m not one to wait till something goes wrong when you know something is wrong. Is RMA possible?
