WD10EARS - 1TB - problem with raising Load_Cycle_Count

I have recently bought new WD hard driver.

Like in subject it is new driver with 4K sector size.

First of all WD had writen on hardware that this disk doesn’t need any preparation in other system then WIndows XP.

I am using Linux and this statement is false and wrong. This model needs preparation before installing Linux on it.

Without preparation performance is very low.

Secondly I have noticed recently that  Load_Cycle_Count from smart is raising rapidly (10 points in 20 minutes).

I read that it shouldn’t raise more then 2 points in one hour.

I tried executing  command:  hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda

but it shows:

 setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
 HDIO_DRIVE_CMD failed: Input/output error
 APM_level    = not supported

This command should turn of power saving and solve problem with Load_Cycle_Count.

What is wrong with this driver.

With this progress of Load_Cycle_Count in smart I will need new hard driver sooner then I expected.

With old driver I didn’t have those problems.

I will exchange this crappy driver and get one from htiachi. It my last wd hard driver. I won’t buy stuff from company which doesn’t support Linux.
