WD1001FALS SMART Spinup time is at 87%

Hi folks,

THis is my first post here. Anyways about a month back i bought two 1TB Caviar Blacks. The one that i have with me reports it’s health at 87% and this is because Spinup time is reported to be 87%. these are the raw values:

Value: 222

Raw Value: 229A

Worst: 218

Threshhold: 21

Is this good or bad? And is it normal for a brand new HDD to have that kind of value?

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

According to the specs, the Average Drive Ready Time is 13 seconds. I presume that most of that is spinup time.

I’m guessing that the raw value may be the spinup time in milliseconds, in which case a value of 0x229A equates to 8858 ms.

Which SMART utility are you using?
