I am wondering if this drive can be used for desktop or not? I read before that the firmware is not optimized for desktop setting (power drops occur as its a NAS hard drive). Another thing is that I have not been able to find any information regarding the noise for this drive, and how it stacks up against WD Blue drives.

My oipinion is, as long its SATA, sure u can use it in desktop, but not always using the sata power supply plug ending, sometimes only way to detect the hdd is to use molex 4-pin with converter to sata to power it. You spuld also know that helium hdds are much more quiet than any air hdd. i know it from experience.
